Myself

Myself

I was born on June 3rd, 2001 in Regina, Saskatchewan. I live with my mom, Tracey, my dad, Randy, and my 16-year-old brother, Bram. Growing up, I was always playing in my backyard or reading books. I have always had a healthy relationship with my parents and I am very grateful for that. My parents raised me to be respectful, active, and empathetic towards others. Many of my core values come from the viewpoints expressed to me by my parents. I have also learned many things from my brother, Bram. He has taught me that knowledge is expressed in many different, unique ways. My education has been a priority in my life for as long as I can remember, and being involved in my school community is something my parents always encouraged me to do. Many positive experiences and relationships have come from my involvement in high school, and I am very grateful I had lots of support from my parents.

A large majority of my family members are teachers, and I think that is why I had a very positive experience throughout my schooling. I have lots of memories from when I was little of going into my mom’s classroom and writing on her whiteboard. She would take me to her schools’ library and I would pick out movies to watch while she did work. During elementary school, I was switched to a school that was starting a new French Immersion program, and my mom was switched to that school as well. Going to the same school that my mom taught at was a great experience, and I was able to develop many positive relationships with my teachers because I spent lots of extra time at school. With positive relationships with my teachers, and a good mindset towards school, my experience through high school was amazing. I was involved in my school community and participated in as many extracurriculars as I could manage. Because of my positive experience in high school, graduating was very sad, but there are many more opportunities beyond high school and I am excited to continue learning in University.

My parents are very involved in my life, and they have been so supportive throughout my education. They encouraged me to participate in all of the extracurriculars I was interested in, and they supported me as much as possible. Outside of school, I like keeping myself busy! during high school, I participated in sports such as volleyball, basketball, curling, rugby, and badminton. I was also involved in many extracurriculars in my schools’ music department; choir, band, vocal jazz, and musical. For most of my high school career, I was involved in my school’s student counsel. This experience allowed me to contribute to my school community, and make many new friends! During my last year of high school, I was elected as SRC president, which was an amazing opportunity! My overall highschool experience allowed me to create positive relationships with my teachers, and take on leadership roles which have helped me become a better person.

My Friends | August 2019

During my personal time, I spend lots of time with my friends and family. My family is a very important part of my life because they support me and my education. We spend lots of time together talking and encouraging one another. I also spend lots of my personal time with my friends. Spending time with friends helps me relax and improves my mental wellbeing. If I did not have my friends and family in my life, I would have much more difficulty in all aspects of my life.

Some things that I love to do during my spare include reading and exercising! When I have free time during the summer, I am always reading. The genre of books I enjoy reading is mainly fantasy, but I love classic books that are usually assigned reading for English classes. During the school year, I am usually too busy to read for pleasure, but I try to read as much as I can!

Over the past few years, I have developed a passion for travel! When I was twelve, I got the opportunity to travel to Japan for a student exchange, and ever since then I have loved traveling. During high school, I was very fortunate to participate in two different trips; one trip to Spain and Portugal, and another to France, Spain, and Italy. Being able to experience different cultures with my peers and teachers was an unbelievable opportunity, and I am very excited to continue to travel around the world throughout my life.
