Journey towards reconciliation:

During my time working on the Journey towards reconciliation assignment, I realized how much feelings I was hiding within myself. The Assignment allowed me to recognize the anger I had with previous teacher as I was deprived of education regarding residential schools. I felt that this art piece symbolized my story and anger. With the topic of “Residential schools” on the black board, I drew a hand with a board eraser. The person behind the hand is symbolizing my teachers throughout elementary and high school. They are erasing the topic of residential schools on the board. They are deciding to not do their job and causing students like me to be uneducated about residential school. This art piece further showcases the regression of the path towards reconciliation. If we do not know what happened in the past, then how can we reconcile it? This aesthetic representation symbolizes my difficult experiences throughout my school years.
