As future educators, we must make the environment feel safe and welcoming. We should use inclusive language and bring representation to our classrooms. This can include bringing people in, watching movies with different representations and having books with representations. I believe that it should be mandatory for individuals to take classes about queering the curriculum and the 2SLGBTQA+ community. Difficult conversations should be had in the classroom because more awareness around the community will make individuals feel safer and open to their environment. As a teacher, how much you support all your students no matter what will also positively affect students. Canada, since it is so diverse and wants to be a more diverse country, it needs to accept not only race and religion but also gender identity. Not only is it essential to accept this but also respect this. There are ways to implement gender identity and the 2SLGBTQA+ community into the classroom.
