Digital Literacy and Donuts

Digital Literacy and Donuts

My future grade range is anywhere from kindergarten to grade five. With this variety, it’s important for me to know how to educate each grade on digital literacy. I think with these ages I would introduce the topic by having them find the problem or odd one out. In the younger grades (maybe like K-3), I would have them figure out the element that doesn’t belong with the rest. For the example above, I would have students try and decide…

Spying On A Classmates Social Media Presence!?

Spying On A Classmates Social Media Presence!?

I know the title might come off a little strong, but this week I cybersleuthed my classmate Payton Pugh (with her permission, of course). From my findings, I learned that Payton is a pretty private person. I was able to find her Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and VSCO accounts, but 3/4 were private. I was able to find things from her Facebook and VSCO and a little from Google. When I googled her name, I found her edusites portfolio, Facebook profile,…

Plucking Along

Plucking Along

Hello everyone, this week of my guitar journey, I was learning how to fingerpick. Fingerpicking is picking the strings one at a time using your right hand. I learned that the thumb picks the bottom three strings (E, A, D), and your index, middle, and ring fingers pick the three top strings (G, B, E). I watched YouTube videos and some TikToks to learn beginner fingerpicking. One of the TikToks taught me an abbreviation for the fingers on your right…

Teaching Digital Citizenship

Teaching Digital Citizenship

In my future classroom, I plan to approach digital citizenship with help from the Nine Elements of Digital Citizenship. I think in our new world of technology, digital citizenship plays a huge role in our daily lives. Digital access is one very important part of our digital citizenship, especially in our evolving digital era. I plan to teach digital citizenship as an ongoing learning experience. As much as we can prepare and teach students about the internet and their own…

The Power of Chords

The Power of Chords

Hello everyone! This week of my learning journey, I focused on chords and working on reading guitar tabs! The chords I’ve been working on are G, C, D, and E minor, which was the first (and easiest) one I learned. My brother mentioned to me most songs played on guitar frequently use the three chords G, C, and D. I tried practicing the chords with the song “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles, but I need to practice the…

The Digital Age as Teachers

The Digital Age as Teachers

Technology plays a huge part in our world. Our digital reality will only expand further, and as future teachers, it’s already reached schools. As we talked about in class, change in content can play a huge role in this. In the past we didn’t have access to many things without there being restrictions. I remember in my early schooling if we needed to watch a video or film, we had to roll in the big TVs on the carts. Now,…

Soundcheck! – Guitar Learning Journey

Soundcheck! – Guitar Learning Journey

Hey everyone! Welcome back to this week’s portion of my guitar learning journey! This week I started with the basics of the guitar, including learning how to hold one properly. I’m learning on an acoustic guitar, and there are six strings, so six notes. The notes are E, A, D, G, B, and E. My brother taught me an acronym he learned to help remember the notes and their order: “Eddie Ate Dynamite, Good Bye Eddie. I have been utilizing…

Tuning into new Tech!

Tuning into new Tech!

Hello, everyone! This week the new technology I tried was GuitarTuna! GuitarTuna is an app that allows you to tune a variety of stringed instruments. The app tunes your instruments by listening to the note being played and gives feedback on the sound and which direction it needs to be turned to be accurate. The app is very easy to use, and I’ve attached a video showing how easy it is to operate. Once you get past all the questions…

My Life with Technology

My Life with Technology

Technology plays a big part in my day-to-day life. As soon as I wake up, the first thing I do is check my phone, and it’s the last thing I do before bed. Technology is definitely one of, if not the biggest, distractions for me. Apps that regularly disturb me are TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and a couple of iPhone games as well. Unfortunately, I don’t take many measures to reduce this problem, mostly because I know I would give in….

Don’t Fret- Learning Guitar!

Don’t Fret- Learning Guitar!

Hello, everyone! For my learning project, I chose to learn how to play the guitar! The guitar is one instrument I’ve always wanted to know how to play, so I’m using this opportunity to kickstart the journey! My two older brothers as well as my sister-in-law all play the guitar, and my goal is to be able to play alongside them one day. Unfortunately for me, I don’t have a single musical bone in my body. I was in band…
