Hello everyone for the very last time! As we have now reached the end of EDTC300, we’ve done a lot of reflecting. At the very beginning of the course, we were told to keep track of the ways we contributed to the learning of others. We had many different opportunities where we could contribute, like the blogs, Discord, and Zoom meetings. All of this was a very new, slightly terrifying experience for me. I had no idea what to expect…
Hello everyone! We made it! Six weeks ago I decided to learn how to play the guitar, and what a journey it’s been! Each week I introduced a new playing technique, physical component, or theoretical knowledge topic relating to the guitar and playing. Along with that, each week I had to find different online resources to help me with whatever skill/topic I was learning that week. I found TikTok and YouTube to be the most helpful. I also documented each…
Hey everyone! For this week’s blog post on AI, I tried out an AI Story Generator on ToolBaz. When I was in school, in English/English language arts class, anytime we had to write a story, I could literally never make up my mind about what to write. Whenever we would create brainstorming webs or anything, I would spend a whole class at least creating multiple different webs for different storylines. Sometimes I would even get half started on a rough…
Hey everyone! This was my last week of introducing a new topic to learn as part of my learning journey. This week I tackled riffs! I honestly LOVED this week’s topic and had fun trying out different riffs. A riff is a short musical phrase that is a repetitive rhythmic figure. I remember when I was younger, my brother always played the ‘Seven Nation Army’ riff by The White Stripes, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I…
Hey everyone! Get it? lit, literature, anyway… For this week’s blog post on coding, I did one of the programs on Hour of Code. I’ve done coding before in my past schooling and enjoyed it, but it’s not really my cup of tea. When I did it in the past, we built Lego robots, and we had to code them to move and do different tasks. After looking over the Hour of Code site, I realized there were so many…
Hey everyone! I’m super late posting this, BUT I just held off as my following week’s learning topic coincided with this week’s a little bit! Anyway! This week of my guitar journey, I tackled strumming! Strumming is a sweeping motion using the pick or your fingers (or both!) over the strings. I was unaware that strumming had more parts to it than just brushing the strings. I first searched on TikTok for ‘beginner guitar strumming,’ and a video by @gregorhuntercoleman…
My future grade range is anywhere from kindergarten to grade five. With this variety, it’s important for me to know how to educate each grade on digital literacy. I think with these ages I would introduce the topic by having them find the problem or odd one out. In the younger grades (maybe like K-3), I would have them figure out the element that doesn’t belong with the rest. For the example above, I would have students try and decide…
I know the title might come off a little strong, but this week I cybersleuthed my classmate Payton Pugh (with her permission, of course). From my findings, I learned that Payton is a pretty private person. I was able to find her Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and VSCO accounts, but 3/4 were private. I was able to find things from her Facebook and VSCO and a little from Google. When I googled her name, I found her edusites portfolio, Facebook profile,…
Hello everyone, this week of my guitar journey, I was learning how to fingerpick. Fingerpicking is picking the strings one at a time using your right hand. I learned that the thumb picks the bottom three strings (E, A, D), and your index, middle, and ring fingers pick the three top strings (G, B, E). I watched YouTube videos and some TikToks to learn beginner fingerpicking. One of the TikToks taught me an abbreviation for the fingers on your right…
