My aesthetic approach follows my journey to reconciliation. It follows the steps of resistance experienced within my childhood and adolescent years, through stereotyping and many bias references seen in our everyday lives. It then enters my teenage years and advances to the realization of what happened to Indigenous peoples of the past. It connects to education needed along my journey and many resources which educated me on the harsh reality of Canadian history and modern-day societal views. Then to reconcile which represents the beliefs I now have from my journey, to be added to over time. In the middle of it all, there is an earth filled with photographs which I have taken of the beauty earth offers, labelled with the word connection. Through earth we connect to all pre-existing matter such as our Indigenous ancestors as well as opening my eyes to see the earth as the Indigenous did.
