Lifeguarding

My summers became devoted to a full time job as a lifeguard at the Foam Lake Waterpark. Though this was my job it felt as if it were a fun summer activity. Unlike most, I looked forward to going to work every morning. My favourite part of the job became the children. I enjoyed seeing them smile and being a part of their day to day lives. I loved being updated on their gossip and growing relationships with them throughout the summer. I furthered my passion and took courses that allowed me to instruct swimming lessons as well as guard. I then began to understand the difficulty behind teaching. I was overwhelmed by tons of preparation and also adaptation to different types of learning, yet I found myself falling in love with it more and more every day. I hope one day I will have the privilege to manage this beautiful facility and share my experiences and love for my job with the younger lifeguards.

Dance Instructor

I had the opportunity to assist my dance instructor with teaching younger kids, I taught dance for years to “tiny tots” . This taught me how to communicate with children at different skill levels and adapt my teaching strategies so everyone is able to fulfill their potential.
