About Me

My name is Jarhico Kenyon, as a person who stems from white settler descent I would like to recognize that I reside on Treaty Four territory. This land is the traditional territory of the Nehiyaw/Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota, as well as the home of the Métis nation. In recognizing this land and my role as a Treaty person I work to respect and foster a relationship with the land that I call my home. I am an education student pursuing a career in secondary education as an English major and a Physical education minor. I have always imagined my life on the path of education, in grade 5 I had a vision for my future and I’m making it happen. I have grown up in the small village of Disley, Saskatchewan for my whole life. I love my community and the relationships I have developed here. Growing up in rural Saskatchewan there is nowhere I would rather be. I look forward to my future career starting here in Saskatchewan near the people I love.

My family is my support system my mom and three sisters are the most important people to me. The people in my life have shown me support and love through everything that I do, I am beyond thankful for them. My mom has shown me strength and taught me that I am capable of anything that I desire if I try. My career in education was started by my desire to help people learn and a big part of that was my relationship with my younger sisters and the role I had in supporting them through their education.
I have always felt a passion for education and extracurricular. I see the importance of extracurricular activities and involvement within a school. I gained determination through playing basketball which allowed me to grow as a leader and a teammate. The connections I made with my team and coaches were something I will always cherish. The drive that the competitive sport gave me will help me continue to work for the things I want. With sports, I found physical activity can help drastically with mental health and a healthy lifestyle. My feelings towards physical activity led me to choose physical education as my minor.
