My contribution to the learning of others
How have I contributed to the learning of others in and outside of this class EDTC 300? From using tools such as Twitter, and Discord, reading and commenting on other classmates’ blogs as well as finding and sharing resources and inspiration posts online, I feel as though I have shared a few great resources and complimented and commented on my classmate’s work or posts a fair amount to be able to have some sort of impact towards their learning journey! This class has taught me to understand and try new tools/websites to see what I feel comfortable using and what works best for me! I loved the aspect of not only learning from the professor but also from your peers and creating online connections in the online world.
On discord, I found myself most often asking questions to the chat rather than answering just because I was usually was never fast enough on my phone to be able to answer a peer’s question, and by the time I read their question it had already been answered! However, I feel as though some of the questions that I had entered into the chat were also questions others had, so they benefitted from my question as well.
While I had a difficult time bringing myself to use, and like Twitter, once I began to get into the grove of how to use it, I found and shared a few informative as well as fun resources for others to see! Some include “How to incorporate emojis into the classroom”, as well as Ted Talks and books regarding “National Indigenous History Month”.
I found it very interesting and intriguing to read about what and how others in my class were doing on their learning projects. The learning project posts that I found the most interesting were the ASL learning projects, only because I also chose to learn ASL and it was interesting to see how others chose to learn and what types of approaches they did. One thing that I learned as I was commenting on my peer’s posts was if you do not include your name, on some sites your comment will be posted and state that you are “anonymous”. I have never found a way to go back and edit my comments on other people’s posts resulting in lots of my comments being anonymous … If anyone knows if it is possible or can be done feel free to leave a comment on my post letting me know how to do it, but don’t forget to put your name!!!!!
Here are a few photos of me commenting on my classmate’s posts and observing their documentation!
Along with using social media apps and commenting on my peer’s blog posts, I have also used my own blog to hopefully give out some useful and helpful information to others. Throughout creating my blog for this class I was able to share articles that I found, helpful resources such as youtube videos, and offer and ask for any suggestions that might have been relevant. I also found throughout this class while working on my Learning Project, there was other people in my class that chose to do the same project as me. It was always helpful to be able to go and see where they were at in their learning journey and to compare how they learnt compared to myself. Each time I posted about my learning project, I tried to create a post that not only showed where I was in my learning journey, but also ways that would be helpful or interesting for others to see and read about.
Throughout this class, I learnt that the options of finding resources are truly endless. No matter where you look, you can always find something helpful, ask questions, or simply join in on a conversation! I was able to connect with classmates, while also learn new online techniques that helped expand my learning both off and online.
