Well, the end is near. This EDTC300 class has been a slice! I wish I could say the same about the entire Fall 2022 semester, but I definitely cannot. This semester has been my hardest one yet throughout my education degree journey, and so I am thankful that it is just about over. Taking 5 classes, doing my pre-internship, all while having 3 kids in extracurricular activities 5-6 days a week has been overwhelming, to say the least, but I know the end result will be so worth it, and so I just need to keep on pushing! With all of that being said, and the stressful semester that I…

Learning Contribution
Well, this is our final week of blog posting in this course. It is hard to believe that it is still November and our class is over this week. For our last post, we were asked to describe ways that we contributed to the learning of others. Now, Katia warned us at the start of the semester that we would be needing to write a post like this, and that it would be a very good idea to keep tabs on instances where we helped others, so that when needing to write this blog post at the end, it would be easier for us. I am very thankful that I…

Well….It Has Been a Slice!
Well, the time has come and the end of the semester is near! I would be lying if I said I am not excited for this semester to be over, because I am so ready! This semester has by far been the hardest semester of my Ed. degree journey. I just have to keep telling myself that the end is near and that I will get through! I can honestly say though, that this EDTC300 class was my favorite class this semester. It was a fun class, but also really pushed me out of my comfort zone, which I loved. I also did not consider myself a very “technological” person,…

I Feel Like Sherlock Holmes…
This week was an interesting one in EDTC 300. In class, we were given the names of people and asked to investigate what we could find out about them, by searching on the internet. It was tough at first, but once we were able to find the individual’s Twitter account, it was then super easy to find them on Facebook and Instagram, as well as other social media sites. It was shocking how much you could figure out about someone, just by being given their name. Although this individual’s Facebook account seemed to be private, we could still view all of their family photos. This was shocking to me; we…

Let’s Retry This….
Well, last week was somewhat of a fail I would say. If you can recall, I tried to follow along with a Facebook reel, which ended up being very hard! I moved from beginner yoga videos that I had been doing in the previous weeks, to an intermediate yoga video last week. I felt a little defeated after trying the intermediate video because I felt as though after all of these weeks of practicing, it should have been much easier for me than it was. Here is a snapshot of what the video looked like. I mean in hindsight, I probably should have realized that this video would be difficult…

Fake News!
When it comes to digital literacy, I feel as though I am somewhat lacking knowledge in the area. Now, this could be because of my age (WHY am I always aging myself in these blog posts?), and how technology wasn’t nearly as common when I was in elementary/high school, as it is now. I remember learning about passwords, and the importance of keeping our passwords to ourselves, but when it comes to learning about fake news on the internet, I recall learning nothing. Thankfully, this week in class we explored some resources that can help to educate us about false information on the internet. This allowed me to gain…

Intermediate Yoga…With A Person (That’s Me) Who Definitely Doesn’t Have Intermediate Skills…
Well, here is my learning project post number 8! After following alongside an intermediate video this week, it is hard to believe that I am on week 8, because I definitely feel like a beginner after the video that I attempted. I decided to try to use Facebook as my learning resource this week. I typed in “intermediate yoga videos” in the search engine, and some reels showed up. The reel that I decided to follow alongside can be found here. Now, let me say, this reel was HARD! There was a lot of bending, and I have no idea if my body will ever be able to bend the…

My Attempt To Be Funny…Through Coding
Well, this week I took a stab at my first attempt to code. I must say, while we were learning about coding in our EDTC 300 class, I felt super intimidated, and scared! As we continued to learn about it, I felt a little less anxious and felt a little more intrigued. I decided to use Scratch to create my short coding project. I decided on Scratch because that is the resource that we explored in class, and simply because I have no idea of any other coding resources. In order to use Scratch, you first have to create an account. This is easy, and the account setup is free. …

Intermediate Yoga…and Some Good Laughs!
Well, as promised, I moved on to bigger (not so sure better) things this week! It’s week 7, and I decided it was time to move from beginner yoga poses to intermediate yoga poses. I decided to check out Pinterest for some intermediate yoga poses, as I figured something along the lines of a poster would be easier to practice alongside with, rather than a video, since I am just beginning with intermediate poses. I am glad I did so, because I found a good picture that had some intermediate poses that intrigued me. Here is the photo that I found: Now, if I am being truthful, these poses looked…

Digital Citizenship
This was a quote that I read online in an article on Today’s Parent. In my opinion, this proves that digital citizenship is a very important topic that should be taught to children. According to Digital Citizenship Education in Saskatchewan Schools, digital citizenship can be defined as “the norms of appropriate and responsible online behavior” and “the quality of habits, actions, and consumption patterns that impact the ecology of digital content and communities.” Ribble’s Nine Elements of Digital Citizenship provides us with 9 elements that make up a positive digital citizenship. They are: Digital Access Digital Commerce Digital Communication and Collaboration Digital Etiquette Digital Fluency Digital Health and Welfare Digital…
