I specifically chose the Michael Lonechild video because I had the opportunity to learn from him in grade 3 or 4. He came to my elementary school and taught us some painting techniques. I thought it was very cool to hear about his experience and journey in art. One fact I found very interesting was that his first agent was a priest.

This is my painting from that experience. I learned a lot from him and this was a very special opportunity. If I ever have the opportunity to do something like this for my students, I would absolutely do it.

I also checked out the revitalization books. I thought that this website was full of really cool resources to introduce students to Indigenous languages. Students could try and make their own books to tell a story in a new language that they are learning, or they could use it as a way to learn new words. It was also nice that the phonetic prounciations were included.

I also tried to do the Pesto from the Patch recipe. I couldn’t do it exactly the same because I did not have all the ingredients available, but I had the carrot tops and most of the other ingredients. It was fun to mess around in the kitchen and learn ways to be more sustainable in my life by using every part of the carrot. I think this would be a really fun activity to try in a classroom, especially if you have a class garden or you are covering the topic of sustainability.
