My Journey Towards Reconciliation

My personal and professional journey towards reconciliation is common knowledge and prevention of the substantial number of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada. Too many women are becoming statistics every year. They are being brutally taken away from their community and ways of life because of racism in Canada, and the government has not shown an inch of sincere effort to reduce these numbers. As an educator, and a Métis woman, I want all my future students to feel safe at school, at home, and in the world. To me, reconciliation is saving and preventing marginalized individuals, particularly Indigenous women and girls from hate crime in Canada. My art encapsulates that idea.
