Learning guitar with help from Guitar tabs

As I spend more time with my guitar I feel myself becoming much more comfortable. I am in no way very good as of  now but it is slowly starting to feel more natural and comfortable. For this weeks post I wanted to give a new app a try; I went on to the appstore on my phone and found something called “guitar tabs”, I was intrigued and wanted to know how this could possibly be a resource for me in my journey to playing guitar. When you first open this app it is pretty much blank, it slowly walks you through some questions where you pick music that you like. After getting through the set up process you are able to access the search bar and find songs you want to learn how to play. Due to me being a beginner I used the internet to look up easy songs to learn on guitar. I found some that were interesting to me so I went back to the app and looked up the song. After finding the song you are given 3 choices, you can use the cords and learn from there, you can follow a chart that has each not written out individually, or you can follow the apps timing and play with them while following the chart. I found the easiest one for me was the 2nd option where you follow the notes on the chart; due to my background in music I know how to read music charts and understand how notes are supposed to work together so by having this Infront of me I was able to slowly work through the start of the song. I honestly really love this app for learning the guitar however It is not perfect. In this app there is no way for you to learn the basics, you just get to pick a song and you are left to figure it out from there. If I had no background with music I do not believe this would have worked very well for me. Overall I would rate this app a 8.5/10, I personally loved it and believe that this will be an app I keep on my phone.
