Throughout the five weeks that my partner and I spent at our field placement, we learned a lot about the different students and the teachers that we fallowed throughout our time in the school. I will be sharing some of my favorite memories I have from my time at my field placement.

One of the memories I will always remember is when we first walked into the school I could hear a guitar riff that I’ve listened to lots and it was “Santa Monica” by the band Everclear so knowing that I went and played with the kids during recess so now I know some of the kids on a personal level through music. I love this memory because I really got to know some of the children on a personal level through music.

For the week when we talked about diversity, difference & inclusiveness in the school and classrooms. The first thing that we both noticed was that the stairs going up to our classroom had no way of getting up a wheelchair. This was kind of ironic because when we entered the classroom, we found one of the students had broken his leg, so he was in a wheelchair. Having this happened the school had to bring in a special machine to help get him up and down the stairs at the start and end of the day.

Growing up in a small farming community, sports was a big part of me growing up and that’s how I spent a lot of my time. If you look at my Awards and Achievements page you will find that I’ve played in a lot of different sports and I have won my fair share of awards and I’ve played in some big tournaments like provincials. A memory I have is when the coach of the basketball team asked if I would want to come and play with the kids at practice and help run some drills. This was quite the experience because I had some of the students asking me if I had played any sports in my high school career. I tried to explain all of the sports and accomplishments I had but none of them believed me so being able to show them that I cared about the game just as much as they did was a great experience.
