Digital Citizenship and the Classroom
This week we are talking about the “nine elements to digital literacy” as discussed in this article: https://www.digitalcitizenship.net/nine-elements.html Also, we are discussing the ways in which we can incorporate this type of skill into the SK curriculum, to create a safer online experience for our students. Digital Access This pertains to access to technology and online resources for students. Not every student has financial or physical access to a laptop, iPhone, or tablet, and this needs to be a central understanding of the classroom. The school must be able to provide students with the technological resources to accomplish assignments and become more literate and competent in how society is shaped by…

This is the end…But “Don’t you forget about” us…
This is the final learning project blog and we are reflecting on the project as a whole. What a wonderful building opportunity for a mama and her toddler. We had so much fun picking up many styles of dance together, and now my boys have access to many different dance channels to get out the dance itch and to get active in their daily life. When I started the learning project, I didnt know how my toddler would respond…but now all he asks to do is to dance, and he has some cool moves to go back to from this project. The Youtubers we learned from: https://www.youtube.com/@SamCamsCreations (Ballet) https://www.youtube.com/@mihrantv (Hip-Hop)…

*Cue mission impossible music…we are cybersleuthing
This week we are learning about cyber sleuthing. My volunteer for this project was Austin Kearns and so we are going to try and find some information that he may not know is out there for EVERYONE to see. first off, He is a professional American baseball player, you can see this here: I’m just kidding! What I have actually researched was austin kearns from regina. This helped to narrow down my search a little bit. This project is funny because I have two boys and I feel like on a really boring week I will try this activity with my sons to see what they are doing online publicly…

Hula in Winter
Aloha! This week for the learning project we decided to learn how to Hula with this youtube channel: Miss Jessica’s World. The video of selection is called: Learn how to Hula in Miss Jessica’s World and the instructor’s name is Ava Rae Luna. What a fun little lesson for my kids to learn. I, unfortunately, did not capture any footage of my toddler dancing to it this week, but he was hula”ing” his hips away. In the video, you will see me and my two-year-old dancing to the lesson and he also loved it: Mother and Two-Year-Old Hula. In the video, we learned that the hula dance is a Polynesian dance…

THIS JUST IN!! ARE WE READING OUR NEWS CORRECTLY?!
Hello everyone, This week in #EDTC300 we discussed internet trolls and the issues of “fake news” on the web. These two issues can cause major rifts in our research because we are filling our brains with information that may not be genuine or true and can be highly toxic for social dialogues. I took the time to watch this video from TEDtalk called “How to choose your news – Damon Brown”, and I will link it here: How to choose your news. In the video, Damon discusses how people in our modern-day society have been bombarded with information, since the invention of the world wide web. Sifting through it can…

“Koo Koo Kanga roo” is Definitely Koo-Koo Kool!
This week we are looking at the Youtube Channel Koo Koo Kanga Roo! This was again a recommendation from a viewer of the learning project blog, and I am so happy someone recommended it! Super fun dance channel and the guys are so engaging. They give me Flight of the Concord vibes but the kid edition. Here is the link to the channel: Koo Koo Kanga Roo. We specifically chose the superhero dance video because why not!? It was SUPER fun *insert wink, and the dance moves were nice and easy, meaning they were slower, more consistent, and repetitive. So this made it very toddler friendly to follow. Here is…

Here we gooooooooo! Program with Me!
This week on the blog, I am deep diving into my first experience with a programming program called “Hour of Code”. If you want to try it out I will link it here: https://hourofcode.com/ca/learn. It is a website that helps people learn how to computer program through different variations of age levels and difficulties. It was fun to try out something new to me, even in this day and age of technology. However, I also learned how complex computer programming can be. I wish making a video game would be as easy as typing in “make Mario game”, but unfortunately it is not. I found even the programming activity…

Danny really does GO!
This week for the learning project I found a fella on Youtube, and his channel is called “Danny Go!”; I will link his channel here: Danny Go! What a fun channel for kids to get up and move with super fun themes in the dance videos! The one that my toddler tried out with my two-year-old is called “Wiggle, Freeze, Spin + more! | Dance Along | Dance Compilation | Danny Go! Songs for Kids”. We definitely wiggled, we definitely froze, and we spun till we fell to the ground! I showed him a couple of Danny’s videos, such a Halloween-themed one. I am going to link the video…
