For this week I made dill pickle soup! I am a big soup girl, especially in the winter and fall seasons. Most soups that I make are hamburger soup, chicken noodles, cauliflower and more. I have not made this soup before but saw it a while ago on my TikTok For You Page. I immediately saved it to my cooking saved folder on TikTok. I had lots of leftover vegetables and pickles in my fridge so this recipe was perfect to make! I love the flavour of dill pickles and crave them often! I figured this was the perfect soup to make. I also enjoy soups because I can freeze them and eat them for work or emergency meals! It is a really easy way to food prep and also use up any vegetables in your fridge.
Since I found this recipe on TikTok, I decided to use TikTok to make and edit my video! Although I have posted TikToks before a long time ago, I never really had to edit anything while using it! First I began by filming each step of the recipe. The steps were the following:
- Cut up the onion, celery, and carrots.
- Add butter and oil to the pot. Let that melt and then add the diced onion, celery, and carrots.
- While that cooks, cut the potatoes and garlic.
- Once the onion, celery, and carrots are cooked down add the potatoes and garlic.
- Add the stock and seasonings of your choice. I added salt, pepper, dill, and garlic powder. Let that boil until the potatoes are cooked.
- Once the potatoes are cooked, I add the chopped pickles, pickle juice, and fresh dill.
- Add the amount of sour cream of your choosing. I did about ½ a cup.
- Serve and enjoy!
After I was done making the soup, I went into each clip and edited it. I found that TikTok was very similar to iMovie which I used before. I had to fiddle around to figure it out for a bit but since I used iMovie before it was very easy to use.
First I clicked the button circled blue.
Next, I selected the clip I wanted to edit. I either split the clip to shorten it and then the clip I didn’t want I deleted.
Once I did that with all the clips, I added a sound. The nice thing about TikTok is they have thousands of sounds to choose from!
Once I was done that, I made sure to turn off the sound.
See my video above, which I uploaded to YouTube!! Thank you for reading and watching!
Hey! This looks and sounds absolutely exquisite. I am a huge dill fan, so this would get eaten so fast in my house. I definitely will have to try this recipe out sometime soon! And soup is perfect for fall time, better do that ASAP!
Oh my gosh! Dill pickle soup is one of my favorites I can seriously eat it all year round! Loved this recipe you used and will definitely try it out myself!
Well, looks like i’ve got a soup to make. This looks great!

I love dill pickles, and soup!! This sounds so yummy, did you enjoy it? I also love the video tutorial, I feel like I need that haha.
Hey!
When I saw the title “Dill Pickle Soup,” I had to check this out. I love the video you made, and the music you chose was perfect for your editing. I always pay attention to that because not many apps have decent music choices for videos. I have not yet used TikTok for making videos, but I am familiar with Imovie. That soup looks absolutely divine!! I just so happen to have some homemade dill pickles kicking around, so maybe I’ll open a can to make this delicious-looking soup!
Cheers
Hello Jules! On the rare occasion my dad makes dill pickle soup for certain family events. When I watch and help my dad make this soup it definitely takes a lot of time due to the amount of steps. It is such a great recipe and very delicious to eat! Your end product looks amazing! Good job!
