What-a-flickr?
When I was first introduced to pechaflickr I had no idea it was going to be what it was. First glance the name does not give me fun improv game, however it totally is!!
For those of you who don’t know what pechaflickr is, it is an interactive improv presentation website that shows you 20 random photos for 20 seconds. The fun thing about this website is that you never know what the next picture is going to be. It is such a fun and quick on your feet game to play in the classroom or even with friends. Do you know who you would play with?
Further explanation… Go to the website pechaflickr once there you choose a topic, you can choose a predetermined topic or you can pick your own!
Once you have pressed play you will see this intro image… You have 20 seconds from this image before you see the first image to start your game.
GET READY!
Once the game starts you will be given a photo related to the topic. For the next 20 seconds it is your responsibility to create a story based on this image.
Once the image is gone a new image will appear. It is now a new persons respobsibility to create a story from that image while still carrying on your story.
This process continues until all photos are finished and you are left with a pretty amazing on the spot story or tale!
I personally think this is a great tool to use in the classroom as an ice breaker or a brain break activity to just have some fun!! How would you use it?
At first when this was introduced in class I was confused as to how this would be great for students but after see and hearing everyone’s story to the random pictures that popped up was very entertaining and sure made me giggle on some of the classmate stories. I found your post very interesting. This is so awesome to know that this can benefit students in creative writing, is an amazing ice breaker, and so much more as it is a great way to get the students engaged in many subjects. Thank you for explaining more about this tool and for sharing.
