Hi there – I’m Kelsey and this is my blog for my Ed Tech 300 class.

I am a Music teacher currently working on my inclusive education certificate.  This is my last class!  I convocated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2016 and have worked as a high school band director, elementary band teacher,  and taught Arts Ed and PE in that time.

After 2022, I decided to leave my continuing contract and go on the sub list so I could have more flexibility with my schedule and spend time with my young kids.  I love the work-life balance that I have now, and it is so much fun to be able to work in lots of schools and teach so many different things.

I’m a bit of a reluctant blogger, I did have a personal blog about 10 years ago and definitely tried to fit into the aesthetic of the time. Life gets busy and it sometimes seems self-indulgent to type up my own thoughts with the assumption that I have words that are valuable enough to demand others’ time and attention.

I have been thinking about the blog space and the type of relevance it has for 2024.  I am subscribed to a few different substack publications, which is where the professional bloggers seem to have gone, but maybe blogging is still alive and well, and I just stopped reading!  Here is a link to the substack website in case someone doesn’t know what it is: https://substack.com/
