Technology in My Life
Technology is all around us and part of our daily lives. I know in my case I use technology all the time to just stay in touch with people important to me. I live in different cities than the majority of my family and a lot of my friends are in different places now as well. I use a lot of different apps to stay in touch with these people such as snapchat, instagram and imessage. These apps are ones I use regularly and in my day to day life. Another app I use to stay in touch with my family and friends is facetime. These are all apps that I use for leisure and social interaction.
Moving on, there are a lot of very useful apps and websites that I use academically that I have become very reliant on. The first app being UR courses. I check this website daily to keep track of my learning and stay on top of my studies. It is a website I can go back to whenever I please to review the materials that I have learned or to even check course emails. Another app that I use to stay on top of my academics is my calendar app along with an app called structured for my daily tasks.
I regularly place different assignments that I have coming up in the weeks or months into my calendar. I check at the beginning of each day and it really helps me stay on track and not leave my daily tasks or assignment to the last minute, as I am a known procrastinator. This has helped my organization skills tremendously. I normally have my phone with me at all times so another app I use to my advantage is my notes app. As the week goes I keep a grocery list in my notes app so that when it comes time in the week for me to go and get some things from the store, I know exactly what I need to get and I am not guessing what items I may or may not have. Other apps I use regularly are gmail and outlook for my emails and google docs and chrome from school work.
I would say for the most part I am pretty good at not having too mau tech related distractions that I run into. I am pretty good at separating my academics for leisure and social interactions. The only time I really run into some issues with distraction is when I am doing some work on my phone. Since I have all of my social media on my phone there is a time where I see a text or a notification pop up and go answer that and get distracted. Lately I have been trying to do most of my work on my computer and not have my phone right beside me. This helps me have a clear division between my work and my distractions.
