I think all students yearn to learn. I as a future teacher need to motivate students with learning, exploring, investigating, discovering and inquiring. Together my students and I will be learning and teaching.
In today’s constantly changing world, our children and youth need to learn inquiry-based, problem solving skills so that they may become successful members of society and live productive lives.
As a teacher, I need to be very creative and organized. Time is extremely valuable. When students are able to use creativity it enhances them and helps them in their learning process. Children are natural and curious explorers.
Students need to be inspired to think critically. By this they comprehend what has been learned and be able to use it. I hope my students will be able to achieve their greatest potential that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. We can give our children these building blocks through education to use in decision making situations, moral value of their thoughts and actions. This will guide them to realize how their actions and decisions will affect themselves and others.
I need to continuously assess and evaluate our students so we can set appropriate goals for each student and individual instructions. Each child learns different, so as a teacher I need to have different styles of teaching for positive reinforcement.
My goal as a teacher is to bring learning to life for all my students and encourage their growth as a person. In order to achieve this, I will include various teaching methods like independent work, cooperative learning, and hands on activities in order to meet all my students’ needs. I believe every student is different and all capable of learning in their own way.
In order to be an effective teacher I believe it is also very important to love building relationships with your students. The first step to this process is creating a relaxed and comfortable learning environment. However, I will also have proper limits and disciplinary action in order to keep the class running as smooth as possible. There will be times where there are interruptions and distractions and I will need to be flexible and assist my class in getting back on track. As a teacher, I will play a huge role in setting up the classroom atmosphere. I will be enthusiastic and passionate about my profession in order to excite my students and keep them engaged.
I believe that every child deserves to have a childhood full of smiles, laughs, happiness, and the feeling of being loved. Therefore, I want to make sure every student receives this while in my classroom.
I believe that relationships with parents and other educators is also important as a teacher. Not only do you have to work with your students, but their parents also. As a teacher I have the same goal as the parents; to help their child receive a good education so they can succeed in life. Therefore, I want to be able to partner with the parents to achieve our common objective. I will also be able to work with other educators. Whether it’s a positive or negative experience, I believe I will be able to learn from them. I will either grow in knowledge of what not to do as a teacher and coworker or will be inspired by them and their teaching methods. Each year as I progress in my journey as a teacher I will be learning and growing. However, I believe that as a teacher it is important to commit to being a lifetime learner. No one can ever be flawless and no one can every know it all. Therefore, I know I can never be a perfect teacher; but I am determined to try my best at everything I do, dedicated to always continue learning, and will strive to be the best teacher I can be.
