Everyone Has To Eat

I don’t cook. Everything I eat is out of a box or a can of some sort. This last week alone I had Kraft dinner, subway, mushroom soup and a frozen pizza. There is nothing wrong with eating those things, but I feel like I am in a rut. I have never enjoyed cooking and I think part of the reason is because I don’t truly know how to. On a scale of 1-10 my cooking ability would be about a 4. I can follow instructions on a package, but that is the extent of it. As for cooking more fresh and home-cooked meals, it doesn’t happen. I am also a really picky eater so venturing out and trying new things isn’t something I am always eager to do.

My learning plan project is to tackle my subpar cooking skills as well as venture out of my comfort zone with food. Over the next few weeks I am going to challenge myself to make at least one meal a week. The focus is going to be on making these meals be home-cooked and something I have never tried before. For some people this may seem like the easiest thing on the planet, but for someone who eats the same thing over and over again it is going to be a huge learning journey.

There are a few keys things I want to work on each week. Barbequing, crockpot meals, and integrating more vegetables are just a few ideas.

Where am I going to learn how to do this? My plan is to use my Pinterest board as inspiration, YouTube and other cooking videos for “how to” demonstrations, asking my family and friends for tips and tricks, and opening the cookbooks that have yet to be opened.

My hope is by the end of this, cooking won’t seem like such a daunting and difficult task! I hope you enjoy following my journey as I discover what cooking is all about!
