Why do I want to be a teacher?

This was one the first questions I was asked in my classes. I also think it is the most important question I will be asked throughout my degree.

I never originally wanted to become a teacher. I loved working with children, but I always thought that was just something I would do until I found what I really wanted to do. The more and more that I continued working and learning about children I realized that this might not be just a temporary thing for me. I love how children are unpredictable and everyday has the opportunity to be different. It makes me excited when kids accomplish something and are super proud of themselves. I always enjoyed my studies I was taking before, but I was never truly excited about them. Once I applied to the University of Regina for Elementary Education a different wave of excitement came over me. This is when I knew that becoming a teacher was the right choice for me.
