Journeying into Educational Technology

Hello everyone,

My name is Kate Johnson, and I am currently pursuing an elementary education degree at the University of Regina. Once I finish my schooling, I plan to teach abroad for a couple of years. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing card or board games. I also enjoy going to my cabin and spending time on the lake.

                                           

Throughout my high school experience, I was fortunate enough to have several opportunities to experience and explore a range of educational technologies. In particular, we used computers to complete homework assignments and projects, and every classroom had smart boards installed that were a part of our daily lessons. My school also had a 3D printer, which I had the chance to learn how to program and use. It was an amazing experience because we saw our ideas come to life. Another educational technology my school had was a virtual reality machine. It allowed us to explore and learn in an immersive and interactive way.

Through this class, I am excited to immerse myself in the world of technology. Although I do not have much blogging experience, I got the chance to create Twitter posts for one of my classes. Though it was a brief experience, it allowed me to familiarize myself with creating content for social media and how it can be used to engage with an audience.
