On March 11, 2019, I had the opportunity to return to the school where I had started my pre-internship last semester. For this 3-week block, I was required to plan and teach a unit, teach for a half day, and take part in everyday classroom routines.

My 3-week block landed on the previously scheduled field trip to Boggy Creek and a professional development day, that I also took part in. The unit that I taught was Grade 1 Geometry. The unit consists of the following 13 lessons:

  1. Pre-assessment: A Shape is Just a Shape
  2. 2D Attributes and Building Shapes
  3. I Can Sort! 2D Shapes
  4. What Am I Made Of? 2D Composite Shapes
  5. Shapes in Our World
  6. 2D Shapes Make Up 3D Objects
  7. 3D Shape Gallery Sorting 3D Shapes
  8. Guess My Rule Sorting Rules
  9. Half Day Teaching
  10. Eating Shapes Sorting 2D & 3D Shapes
  11. Roll, Stack, or Slide 3D Attributes
  12. Replicate Composite Shape

Below are the assessment rubrics and checklist that I used when teaching the Geometry Unit.
