Hello!
My name is Katrina Untalan. I am currently in my second year of an after-degree program in Elementary Education, focusing on Pre-K to Grade 5. I’ve been living in Regina and working at an insurance company on weekdays for the past two years. On weekends, I volunteer as a teacher at our church, leading Children’s Liturgy and helping with sacramental preparation.
By profession, I am a licensed teacher in the Philippines, and I’ve chosen to continue pursuing my passion for teaching here in Canada. Navigating life as an immigrant has been a journey—especially in my path to becoming a teacher.
Teaching is something very close to my heart. There’s joy in every lesson I teach, every student I support, and every moment I create with them. This is why I’m so passionate about what I do. Every child deserves a teacher who not only educates but also cares for and loves them. I’ve also embraced the truth that a teacher’s learning is continuous—and it should be—because students deserve a high-quality education.
My students often think I’ve taught them everything I know. What they don’t realize is that they’ve taught me just as much: patience, empathy, love, forgiveness, and compassion.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending my free time watching thriller and action movies, reading books, and chatting with family and friends. I’ve found that my daily routine of stretching and walking has helped me regulate my emotions and calm my nerves. I always feel better and lighter after taking these small steps to care for myself. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better—I’ll see you in my blog posts!
