Hi my name is Kelsey Gartner, and I am currently working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Regina.
I am super grateful for the life that I am living and the many experiences that I have been gifted with along on my journey so far. I was raised in a bigger family then most; I have two amazing parents, three siblings, and a lot of cousins who I am all very close with! Growing up in this big of a family has provided me with a lot of support, guidance, and introduced me with my love for children!
I grew up on a small acreage just outside of Southey Saskatchewan. Growing up on a small farm has come with a lot of responsibility for me and my siblings and has taught me a lot of life lessons that I wouldn’t have learned if I grew up in a town or a city. This also introduced me for my love for animals, growing up on a farm I have been able to grow up around all different types of animals like sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, cows, and of course my dogs!
Growing up, I was a competitive member on the Volleyball and Dance team in my community. Through these sports helped me create new relationships and taught me many viable life lessons. I also have a passion for cooking and baking, through the pandemic and lockdown baking became of of my favorite things to do to pass the time.
I first realized I wanted to work with kids at a very young age, but it wasn’t till later in my schooling career that I realized I wanted to become a teacher. It wasn’t till my Grade Nine homeroom teacher encouraged me to look into teaching that I considered it as an option for my future career. He said I had the right loving, caring, and patient mentality to encourage and help students on their own journeys. So I took this information and I never looked back.
I am extremely grateful for all the educational experiences that I have had in my life so far. My experiences make me extremely excited to pursue a career in education! “Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching.”
