Turn up the Heat

Welcome to my learning project journey! For my learning project, I have chose to focus on expanding my cooking skills. I see cooking and eating as a way to fuel your body and connected with your loved ones. Growing up, my family always sat together at the dinner table, discussing our days and enjoying good food. After starting university, I have fallen into the routine of cooking the same meals on autopilot. I have chosen cooking as my learning project focus to learn exciting new recipes and to reconnect with the people I love!

Current Cooking Skills and Lifestyle

When it comes to cooking and fueling my body I tend to follow the Girl Dinner diet. What I mean by this is I scavenge my pantry for a bunch of snack foods/ingredients that give me the nutrients I need and requires little to no cooking time. This method works well for me to save time on cooking and finding recipes. However, it doesn’t provide an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the time cooking and enjoying food with loved ones.

My Learning Project

For my learning project, my plan is to find one new recipe a week to cook and enjoy my cooking with loved ones. I am planning to look for recipes from various online sources to see what resources I find the most helpful to learn from. I want to find new recipes to make cooking exciting for me, and I want to share them with loved ones to motivate me to slow down and enjoy!

Hi Kira! I love your idea for this project. I also commonly follow the girl dinner diet and end up making random snacks for lunch and French toast for supper. I am looking forward to watching your videos and maybe learning some new recipes from you.

    Hello Kira,
I am very excited to learn more about your findings, as I am also doing cooking as my learning project. I love your idea of having weekly dinners with families. I find myself always in a rush with my schedule and my child’s sports, so I forget to slow down and enjoy myself!
I am excited to see where your journey takes you!
