So, since being in the work field, I have had many experiences. I have worked from a regular babysitter, childcare worker, educational assistant, and up to a director, etc. I have had many hats over my time as an early childhood educator, and I have leaped into becoming a teacher. I have had a passion for teaching young minds, and I have had many opportunities within my career to expand my knowledge.

I worked as an early childhood educator right out of high school, and I fell in love with my job instantly.  It did not feel like a job whatsoever to me. I was so happy to go to work, I loved that every day was different, and the growth and relationships I developed in my time, I will always cherish and respect. I then decided to take my schooling in Saskatoon, and there I received my Early Childhood Education Certificate. I then moved back to my hometown to accept a position as an educational assistant at a private preschool. I will have to say it was the oddest interview as I was not asked any questions, but instead told when I was going to start. Little did I know it was going to be the best experience.  I worked in that facility for 3 years, and then I got pregnant with my daughter. Once I decided to go back to work, after a short 8 months. I had applied to be an educational assistant within the school division. I had been working for a short time then unfortunately COVID-19 had hit and we were shut down.

Fast forward a few months later, I had bid on a Directors position, ironically with the place that started my career.  I then journeyed my way through my directorship for the next three years. It was most definitely a learning curve, and I was able to learn from so many others within the field and still am learning.  I decided I wanted to finally take my passion and place in within a classroom and applied for my education degree in which I am taking currently.

Early Childhood Educator Award

I had received an award in August of 2022.  I was nominated by an individual for this award from the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan, which was to recognize the Early Childhood Educators and all the great work they were doing within the province. All the winners were blessed with a ceremony, supper and invitee guests. It was a beautiful ceremony and all the great educators who were being recognized got there own little write up and speech of appreciation. I will forever be grateful for my experience and award.
