This week was unfortunately another week that was busy and didn’t allow me to accomplish everything I wanted. I was busy with assignments and studying for a mid term so I didn’t get to spend, as much time as I wanted on my learning project this week. But with that said I still did some learning so let’s dive into that.
I decided to continue working on the beginning of my solves this week with the aid of a new resource. I used the pdf found here, which displays many of the common cases I need to solve during the beginning stage of my solves. I went through a few of these cases and was able to learn a few different and faster ways to solve pieces. I did like the resource; although in this case I do think a video is better suited like the one I used last week, as this is more intuitive and seeing how the pieces move helps me better remember the moves I need to use to solve a given case. Overall, I was able to learn a few new and faster ways to solve pieces but I didn’t get to learn as much as I would have liked to with the resource.
My best average for this week was as follows: 20.66, 24.45, (26.39), 19.93, (19.45) = 21.68 seconds. The solves are shown in the video below.
This average is worse than my past 2 weeks and in general my solves were slower than they were for the past 2 weeks. The biggest reason for why that may be is practice. Since I was busy this week I didn’t get to do a lot of practice solves and as a result I was a bit slower than normal. However, late into the week my solves did improve after I got more time to practice and I was able to get a pretty good average. I still have a lot of work to do with the beginning stage of my solves, as there are still a lot of rotations and poor look ahead. I will continue to work on this next week, hopefully with more time and better results.
Hi Kamden!
Practice is good, and falling back only motivates a person to continue learning. The Rubick Cube is a curious mechanical piece of fun and shows dedication to growth. Keep up the fantastic work!
