Instagram is my Fitness Instructor?!

For this week, I decided to explore learning new rebounding skills using… Instagram! Yes, you read that right. I noticed that Session tends to post a lot of their in-person rebound routines on their Instagram story. Sometimes I see a routine on there that I would have loved to try, but I did not go to that class on that day. I decided to give learning a routine by watching it on the Instagram story a try. This required rewatching the story many many times and practicing the moves individually and then putting them together. I did a screen record on the Instagram story that I was following to learn this routine, so you can see the video I was learning from.

Here is the routine I learned on Instagram this week:

I will say that using Instagram stories as a learning platform definitely had it’s challenges:

  • I had to re-watch the story over and over and over again to watch the moves
  • It’s hard to see if she is using her left or right arm/leg because of the camera angle
  • I was watching on a tiny screen (my phone) which was more challenging than putting it on the TV like I usually do

While this was something fun to try out, I don’t anticipate that I will be learning too many more routines using Instagram stories because it is definitely a challenge! My favourite ways to learn rebounding is either in person or using the online platform because it is designed for at home learning.

That’s all for this week!

  2. This is such a fun way to participate in workout classes even on days when you are unable to make it to the studio! Thank you for sharing!

  3. Hi kerina, you did a great job exploring a new way to learn rebounding routines. You reflected on the benefits and challenges of using Instagram stories as a learning tool. Your perseverance in rewatching the routine and breaking down the moves is impressive! Keep up the great work!

  4. Oh my gosh this is awesome. I like the technology you used to do the side by side. I’ve never heard of or used kapwing before so I’ll have to give it a try!
