My First Field Experience
My first experience in the field was amazing! I spend 7 Mondays participating, helping, assessing, and getting to know the students. I had a blast learning about them and about the teacher and her teaching practices. Being in this placement made me nervous at first but I soon got over that! I learnt a lot about classroom management and how to teach students of different ages. Because of this field experience I cannot wait for my future career for being an educator!

My ELNG 100 Field Experience
For my second field experience I helped with an after school homework program for students who need extra time and help with homework and whose first language is not English. Working with ELL students was a really great experience. Growing up in rural Saskatchewan I had little experience with people who do not speak English as their first language. I was able to learn how I can best help ELL students through this placement and through the ELNG 100 and ELNG 310 course which I am taking now in my pre-internship year.
Current Experiences and Pre-Internship
Do to Covid-19 and the pandemic that surrounds it, the fall pre-internship was cancelled. In place of this, I participated in online webinars and seminars that provided me with great information that I can use in my future classroom and lesson planning. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I had limited experience in the field which caused me to be anxious for my three week pre-internship block and my 4 month internship experience.
During the winter of 2021, I was able to attend a three week placement in an elementary classroom. I loved the experience and I gained a lot of good tips and tricks that can help me in the future. I am very thankful that I got this experience before I head into Internship. (More information on my pre-internship can be found under ‘Professional Field Experiences’ -> ‘Pre-Internship’)
