Closing the gaps: A compassionate view of mental health beyond the medical model, by Christina Luzius-Vanin & Alana Butler, in The Compassionate Educator:
This article opens up conversations around menta health for students and teachers. After reading this article, here are the questions that I have proposed to my guests as their host. Feel free to read this article and answer the questions as well.
1.When reading this article what was something that surprised you and why did it surprise you?
2. As mentioned in the article “55 precent of the new reports associated mental illness with interpersonal violence and suicide” (Luzia-Vanin & Butler, n.d) Which leads to stigmatizing mental health. My question is: In order to non-stigmatize mental health and mental illness, what do you think needs to change?
3. As educators we give students support but what do you think we can do for students who are going through mental health issues
4. In connection to this article how do you feel about Bells lets talk?
