Muffins For Granny

Muffins for Granny:

After watching the video Muffins for Granny, I am shocked to know the information that the documentary had provided me with. They taught me from grade 4 about Residential school but it was always a sugar-coated topic. After I had viewed this video, I can now see the devastation that residential schools brought to indigenous communities. This documentary gave me the answers to the questions that I always had asked about.

The hardest part for me while watching this documentary was when each individual explained their stories. The story about the man that took the time to end his life made me cry. I never had never felt so empty before watching him explain the reasons for wanting to end his life.

While also watching the documentary I really took a notice to the environment. It’s so funny to me how it’s called a Residential school. The world school is a place where everyone that attends feels they have opportunity and be able to be themselves. School in the time of history did the opposite to the indigenous culture. They were told not to be themselves. If I would have never seen this video, I would have never understood this.

This documentary has shown me that there is so much more work that I can do to bring light to this dark time of Canadian history. I hope to learn more about their stories and how I can continue on in my path of truth and reconciliation.
