This is an online resource package with activities based on the book “The Proudest Blue”. This package is designed for grade one students to complete at home as an online learning activity (in the event of schools being shut down due to COVID). “The Proudest Blue” is a book about two sisters, Asiya and Faizah. Asiya is in sixth grade and wears a hijab to school for the first time ever. She chooses a beautiful blue hijab and wears it very proudly to school. Some students point and laugh at her, but she chooses to ignore the hurtful words. Faizah absolutely admires her sister’s hijab and can’t wait to have her own beautiful, bright blue hijab one day. This is a wonderful book for all ages! Fun fact: the author of this book, Ibtihaj Muhammad, is a 2016 Olympic medalist in the sport of fencing. She is the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab while competing for the United States in the Olympics.
