I really enjoyed doing my learning project, teaching myself how to say dene words was fun. I wish I had an actual dene speaking person teaching me, I think I would have learnt a lot more than I did. I believe the dene language is a beautiful language. I admire how the dene youth and children speak their language so fluently and I hope that someday this could be our youth and children speaking Cree fluently.
One of my goals as a newbie teacher is to teach and bring back our language.
Words I taught myself were:
- Hello – ēdlánët ë
- Good Morning – duhú k’ àbí nëzu
- March – hah zaghë
- mom – ënë
- dad – sëtá
- computer – tsatsánë bibíhuli
- teacher – sëkui hónëltëni
- thank you – mercí cho
- thank you my relatives – mercí cho salutina
I thought I would use thank you as my last dene word post and I asked about this word on facebook and the response was good. Most of the people who responded said it was: thank you – mercí cho
So thank you Gabe for this learning project idea, I really enjoyed it and I learnt quite a bit about the digital world.
thank you
