My name is Mackenzie Jaqueline Evans. I was raised in Kelvington, Saskatchewan on Treaty 6 land, and currently live in Langenburg, Saskatchewan on Treaty 6 land. I am in my fourth and final year of the Early Elementary Education degree program.
Before enrolling in the Faculty of Education, I was enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. I have always known I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, but I realized nursing wasn’t quite the right path for me. It was through the relationships I’ve built with my nieces and nephews that I discovered my true passion, teaching.
I have always imagined myself teaching Grade 1. During my pre-internship placement, I had the opportunity to work with a Grade 1/2 split classroom. This experience alongside time spent with my nieces and nephews has shown me just how powerful connections can be. I hope to bring that same sense of connection into my classroom.
My goal as an educator is to be someone students can trust and feel safe with. I strongly believe teaching is more than delivering curriculum. It’s also about building connections, nurturing growth, and creating a space where everyone belongs, thrives, and learns in a way that best suits their individual needs.
I am beyond excited for what my future holds as a future teacher!
