    A Semester of Contributing

My Final Welcome! 🙂  EDTEC 300 has come to an end. I would love to share how I contributed to the class community by connecting to EduSite (WordPress) blog posts and the Discord community and a brief reflection on my Zoom breakout room participation. You got it right! All these factors have impacted my network learning throughout the past seven weeks. Before I begin, I do want to address that this was my very first time using EduSite and creating a blogging platform.  Sharing my thoughts and opinion regarding the assigned blog post and my experience with my macramĂ© learning journey was heartwarming having such an uplifting class community commenting…

    The World of AI

Welcome bloggers 🙂  AI is all around us!! I chose to familiarize myself with the AI tool Magic School AI. This AI platform has endless possibilities for teachers and students in the classroom.         I played around with the following AI tools: Science Labs The Science Labs tool is an excellent way to generate ideas for labs that connect to the Saskatchewan curriculum. Not only does it provide you with great lab lessons, but it can also spark your imagination just by reading the AI ideas and then adding your own twist to them. This tool could enhance learning by creating labs that connect to multiple learning…

    The World of Fake News!

Fake news???? Yes, it’s true! It spread like wildfire. As future or current teachers, we need to make it a priority to teach our students the importance of digital literacy. Why Teach Digital Literacy in Middle/High School? After reading the article “Developing critical literacies: What we need to know in a “fake news” world”,  I learned that it is no longer appropriate to simply just check the date and author of the article and assume it is real information. Students must be taught how to: Recognize the bias information Use reliable fact checking tools such as Snopes, Polilifact, FactCheck.org, Google’s Reverse Images Search, and VerificationHandbook.com.  Read like a fact checker…

Digital Identity, Growth, and, Accountability: What’s your opinion?

Welcome fellow blogger The big questions I have: Should we be held accountable for online posts?  Should there be a “status of limitations” for digital posts? Concerning our digital identity? This is a tough question to answer… When you were 10 years old, were you hanging around with a rough crowd? When you were 16, were you presenting yourself negatively online? Is that image negatively affecting your choices or digital identity today? Today are you a whole new person? Did you learn from your mistakes?  Do you think you should be accountable for your actions now that you are 35?  Does your past reflect who you are today, now that…

Digital Citizenship – Why The “One Life” Perspective Matters

Hello! lets discuss digital citizenship,  When it comes to approaching digital citizenship in my future classroom, I plan on approach it through the “one life” perspective that Jason Ohler discusses. I belive it’s important to teach students about responsible technology use both in school and at home. Some students may not be exposed to the 9 elements of digital citizenship at home, school becomes an important learning environment when it comes to digital citizenship skills. As a future teacher my goal will be to incorporated all 9 elements within my daily teachings, helping my students gain knowledge and habits they need in order to understand, be safe, respectful, and responsible…
