The World of AI

Welcome bloggers 🙂

AI is all around us!!

I chose to familiarize myself with the AI tool Magic School AI. This AI platform has endless possibilities for teachers and students in the classroom.

I played around with the following AI tools:

Science Labs

The Science Labs tool is an excellent way to generate ideas for labs that connect to the Saskatchewan curriculum. Not only does it provide you with great lab lessons, but it can also spark your imagination just by reading the AI ideas and then adding your own twist to them. This tool could enhance learning by creating labs that connect to multiple learning styles, helping all students achieve the outcomes based on their particular learning needs.

Sometimes, teachers need additional support, and this tool can help guide us in the correct direction. Do you agree that AI can help spark our imagination and ideas too, or are you the complete opposite? Why or why not?

Group Work Generator:

The Group Work Generator tool was very cool! I find it tricky creating meaningful group work activities as a student teacher. This resource I believe will help give me knowledge I need to create purposeful group work ideas. Some may think AI takes away the aspect of critical thinking, but in my opinion, I think it also teaches new strategies as well.

Ethical and Practical Challenges of AI

Our sense of critical thinking is at risk. If we rely on AI to do everything for us we are not going to be able to think for ourselves anymore. We still need to be able to think critically! Are we truly aware of what we are teaching if we are relying on AI all the time??

We need to remember we are still here as human teachers. We need to meet the professional teaching standards regarding teaching and still use our own means of teaching which does not require the use of AI for everything we do. We do not want AI to replace us! We still need to create our own materials and use our own knowledge to be a reliable and professional teacher. Do you agree? Why or why not?

My Perspective on AI in Education

I believe AI can enhance teaching by saving time on lesson plans and perhaps diving into the areas of students’ weaknesses and focusing on success in this area rather than focusing all your time and energy on creating lessons. I believe AI can also spark creativity and ideas as well as allowing teachers to discover ways to approach diverse needs especially when all the ideas you have tried have failed.

AI cloud

I believe it is an amazing tool to use in the classroom, but not a REPLACEMENT for all the amazing teachers in this world. Teachers can learn from it, use it appropriately, but don’t do 100% of our job with it. It is a powerful learning tool for teachers and students in the classroom but we also have to remember we have a brain too and we went to school for four years focusing on the fundamentals of teaching. Let’s not forget about the skills we have! 🙂

Thanks for visiting today!

    Hi Mackenzie!

I found the AI tool Magic School is a pretty neat site to explore. I’m glad you also had the chance to explore this AI tool. I love that lab lesson you created with this site. Did you find it an easy process to create this lesson or were there some struggles? The perspective you have on AI in education is very insightful. AI is indeed a great resource that offers us educators endless options, resources, and guides. Before I was not huge on the use of AI, but after digging deeper into, I now see all the advantages it can offer us.
