EDTEC300

A Semester of Contributing

My Final Welcome! 🙂

EDTEC 300 has come to an end. I would love to share how I contributed to the class community by connecting to EduSite (WordPress) blog posts and the Discord community and a brief reflection on my Zoom breakout room participation. You got it right! All these factors have impacted my network learning throughout the past seven weeks.

Before I begin, I do want to address that this was my very first time using EduSite and creating a blogging platform.  Sharing my thoughts and opinion regarding the assigned blog post and my experience with my macramé learning journey was heartwarming having such an uplifting class community commenting positive and knowledgeable responses to my blog posts. On the other end of it, it was also amazing reading and responding to individuals’ blog posts. I feel I have gained a large amount of insight into various new skills from playing guitar, crocheting, golf, and many more amazing skills. This experience has made EDTEC 300 a great class to be a part of.

Come along as I get to brag about my contributions – just a wee bit 😉 hehe

Blog Posts

Each week I made it my goal to comment on at least 3-5 blog posts following the class guidelines. Each week, I accomplished that! And I even went above and beyond 5 comments on Week 1 (6 comments), Week 2 (9 comments), Week 4 (6 comments), and Week 5 (7 comments).

Each week I took the time to read thoroughly through multiple blog posts leaving respectful, encouraging comments, and leaving questions if I had any. Reading about everyone’s learning journeys and assigned blog posts based on their thoughts and opinions sparked new perspectives, curiosity, interests, and a sense of a digital community. These aspects made EDTEC 300 a safe place to share my thoughts, opinions, and ideas when blogging. This isn’t always the case in other classes, I felt I was able to get to know everyone in a respectful technological way by forming a networking community like we have this semester. WE SHOULD ALL BE PROUD 🙂

Now that I have the experience of blogging I hope to take this skill into my future teaching practice. I believe blogging is an excellent way to practice reflecting and communicating. I would love to form a digital community in my classroom.

Discord

The Discord community was another form of technology that was used to form a digital community. In class our Discord had the following text channels:

  • Q&A
  • Resources
  • Introductions

I contributed by introducing myself as you can see is evident seen through the follow image.

Introduction discord post and an image of a cat.

When I ran into troubles I contributed to the discord community by asking my questions as evident through the following image.

lastly, I also used it to check in on the class and ask how everyone was making out. As evident through the following image.

Discord has taught me not to be afraid to asking questions. I have a community standing with me and we are all here to learn and grow.

This is where I bragged about who I am, shared my blog posts, critical manifestos, unit plan, lesson plans, and digital resources. I incorporated this into my network of learning for my digital community to get to know me and see some of my accomplishments and beliefs.

Zoom Breakout Rooms

I don’t have physical evidence of this, but I still want to highlight how I represented myself  in the Zoom breakout rooms. In each class, I contributed by having my camera on and interacting verbally by either participating in discussions by asking questions, responding to questions, or sharing my thoughts. I made sure to be professional and foster a welcoming environment by making all feel valued and included.

Thanks for such a positive experience with network learning. This community allowed me gain confidence when speaking in groups, especially with people I don’t know very well. I know this experience will strengthen my group speaking and collaboration skills.

Conclusion

All in all, I am happy to be apart of this network learning community through EDTEC 300. We have reached the finish line! I contributed in a significant ways by blogging, discord interaction, and engagement in Zoom breakout room discussion. I will take all the skill I have developed through the course into my future teaching practice by creating a strong sense of collaboration in the classroom.
