Hello fellow Blog followers!
I have finally gotten the hang of the berry knot and double half-hitched knot. Last week, I struggled, but hey…practice makes progress. I haven’t quite perfected it, but I significantly improved from last week! For me, that is a win!
The first image shows me finally getting it, then I proceed to make a design with the knot and I completely fail. I spent lots of time on this knot and finally, I was able to create a zig-zag. This stitch will help me in the future by creating a macramé wall hanging.
This image is a completed berry knot with a row of double half-hitch knots.
What I Learned/Resource Reflection
Moving forward, I planned to make something with the knots I practised last week. I chose to focus on the square knot and spiral knot since I wasn’t quite comfortable and needed extra practice with the berry knot and double half hitch knot.
You are now wondering what did I decide to make? Keychains!
I found a blog called How To Make A DIY Macrame Keychain Step by Step. What made this resource spectacular and extremely helpful was that each keychain tutorial included a hyperlinked YouTube videos. This allowed me to pause and play the videos at my own pace. Another great feature was being able to adjust the playback speed, which meant I could slow the video down to better see exactly how the cord needed to be knotted. THIS WAS AMAZING! Super helpful for visual learners like me!
In order to make a keychain I had to learn a new knot called the gathering knot. Here is a video if you wish to check it out and learn too.
Compared to last week’s resource, this was an upgrade. Learning through a video versus just pictures made it a lot easier for me to accomplish the task at hand. I highly recommend checking out the blog and the videos presented if you wish to learn how to make macramé keychains.
Future Plans
Come back next week as I plan to find a new resource and tackle macramé coasters. Here are some images to peak your interest.
Bye for now!
