Hello and WELCOME, Fellow Blog Followers!
HOLY MOLY MAMA MIA

The day has finally arrived… My macramé learning journey blog posts have come to an end.
Over the past 6 weeks, I have explored the art of macramé through a series of blog posts where I used web-based resources to help gain skills. Throughout this journey I shared my learning project by creating a beautiful blog using EduSites, sharing my work and resource reflections with you all.
Each week, I had to find a new resource to help support the progress of newly formed skills related to macramé and reflect on the resources strengths and potential limitations.
This final post will bring my journey all together as I share with you what I have learned, struggles I endeavoured, and the key take away from my knotting adventure.
Prior to learning Macramé
Before diving into this journey, I was a complete beginner! I didn’t even know the proper name of the string I needed to buy or that macramé string so called “cord” came in different sizes and types depending on the project you wish to make based on the size and appearance you dream of creating.
Yes, yes, at the beginning I was very overwhelmed! How was I supposed to create a macrame master piece without getting tangled in all the knots!?
Let’s take a glimpse into the last 6 weeks and discover all the macrame skills I have accumulated.
Glimpse Into the past – Learning Experience
Week 1 – Let’s Knot Panic I’m Learning Macramé
- I created a plan of action for the following 6 weeks
- I learned the basics by reading “How To Macrame – The Ultimate Beginners Guide”
- I was now prepared to tackle knots in week 2 by informing myself on what macramé entailed
Week 2 – Getting Tangled in Knots
- I used Pinterest and found the blog How To Macrame – The Ultimate Beginners Guide”
- The blog gave me an idea of what knots to begin with since I had no clue!
- I tackled the lark’s head, square knot, spiral knot, berry knot, and the double half-hitch knot.
- WOWZA!! That was a week!
Week 3– Knot Perfection – But Progress
- I used a blog that had videos incorporated within called How To Make A DIY Macrame Keychain Step by Step
- I created 2 different macramé Keychains! square knot and spiral knot
- I learned a new knot as well called gathering knot
- The gathering knot was a bit of a harder one at first, but I didn’t give up!
Week 4– Coasting Through Macramé
- I used a TikTok video to make my coaster linked here
- I went through trial and error this week by having my cord to tight while creating the coaster
- I made 2 beautiful coasters and the journey was one to remember
Week 5- Hanging Around Creating Knots
- I used a YouTube video to create a macramé wall hanging
- I learned how to make leaves and had them hanging from a tree branch
- This was a very fun project!
- I hope to make more wall hanging in the future
Week 6– OMG A Hanging Plant
- I used a blog to complete this weeks project called How To Make A Macrame Plant Hanger (For Beginners)
- I created a plant hanger
- THIS WAS MY VERY FUN!!
- I acquired a new skill of knotting different sections together which was cool
Week 7 = Now my learning project has come to a close!
Top 3 Takeaways
1. Choose Resources That Best Suit Your Learning Needs!
- For example, I enjoyed the resources that included videos the best because I am a visual and auditory learner. Being able to physically see the steps being completed and listen to the steps really helped me succeed when it came to learning a new skill. This is reflected in my blog posts when I speak about the strengths and limitations of the resources I used.
2. Resource Reflection Matters!
- Reflecting each week on the resource I used really helped me critically think about my learning style. It allowed me to take a step back and think about what the strengths and limitations of the resources were and how my learning process when with each new skill I learned.
- Created a more meaningful blog post since I had to critically think about the process of macramé and the resources used.
3. Blogging Community Is Lots Of Fun!
- Reading others blogs, commenting, and sharing my own post was a great way to interact with the blogging community.
- It was nice knowing I wasn’t the only beginner blogger and we were all here tackling this new task together, which made me feel more comfortable to post and share new skills.
- Connecting with new people is always fun! I was able to meet new people and who knows I may stay connected and continue to follow along with bloggers in this community we created.
Future Endeavours
I plan on continue my journey with macramé. I will use be sure to find resources that best suit my learning needs and reflect on why I like or dislike the chosen resource. This will make it a lot easier choosing a resource the first time around because know I have insight on what best works for me!
Thanks for following along with me this semester!
Bye for now.
