Digital Identity, Growth, and, Accountability: What’s your opinion?

Welcome fellow blogger The big questions I have: Should we be held accountable for online posts?  Should there be a “status of limitations” for digital posts? Concerning our digital identity? This is a tough question to answer… When you were 10 years old, were you hanging around with a rough crowd? When you were 16, were you presenting yourself negatively online? Is that image negatively affecting your choices or digital identity today? Today are you a whole new person? Did you learn from your mistakes?  Do you think you should be accountable for your actions now that you are 35?  Does your past reflect who you are today, now that…

Digital Citizenship – Why The “One Life” Perspective Matters

Hello! lets discuss digital citizenship,  When it comes to approaching digital citizenship in my future classroom, I plan on approach it through the “one life” perspective that Jason Ohler discusses. I belive it’s important to teach students about responsible technology use both in school and at home. Some students may not be exposed to the 9 elements of digital citizenship at home, school becomes an important learning environment when it comes to digital citizenship skills. As a future teacher my goal will be to incorporated all 9 elements within my daily teachings, helping my students gain knowledge and habits they need in order to understand, be safe, respectful, and responsible…

    Coasting Through Macramé

Welcome back! I just have to say it’s crazy the amount of creations you can make with a piece of string/cord! This week I chose to tackle the creation of glass coasters. Come along with me and see how this journey went 🙂 What I learned/Resource Reflection  Yes, you best believe it this week I used TikTok as my go to resource. I got lost in this virtual world as I was seeking out a macramé coaster tutorial. Swipe…Swipe….Swipe…. OOOO FOUND ONE!  Before beginning my creation, I had to measure out my cord. I cut out 5 feet of holding cord (the cord I will be working with the most)…

Media Literacy – Is It True? Is It Kind?

Hello all,  I grew up finding information out of books, in a library full of endless knowledge. But today, technology has implemented three major changes when it comes to how we interact in the world today: 1. The content being shared. 2. Tools we use to share or receive information (Twitter, Tick Tok, Facebook, YouTube, etc). 3. It has impacted how humans interact and create relationships with others. According to Michael Wesch, media is defined as, “Mediating human relationships, when media changes so do human relationships”. HOW TRUE IS THIS! Today, media spreads at lightning speed! But is it always true? Is it always helpful? Is it always kind? You…

    Knot Perfection – But Progress

Hello fellow Blog followers!  I have finally gotten the hang of the berry knot and double half-hitched knot. Last week, I struggled, but hey…practice makes progress. I haven’t quite perfected it, but I significantly improved from last week! For me, that is a win! The first image shows me finally getting it, then I proceed to make a design with the knot and I completely fail. I spent lots of time on this knot and finally, I was able to create a zig-zag. This stitch will help me in the future by creating a macramé wall hanging. This image is a completed berry knot with a row of double half-hitch…

    Getting Tangled in Knots

Welcome back! 🙂 Remember when I said my plans may change… well, they did! Instead of learning just one knot a week, I decided to tackle the lark’s head, square knot, spiral knot, berry knot, and the double half-hitch knot. This week was all about getting hands-on practice with the cord and building on my knotting skills. In order for me to learn how to craft these macramé knots, I followed an online resource I found through Pinterest, which directed me to a blog called How To Macrame – The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide. Please check it out, it provides some great information! Let me dive in and share my experience…

    Let’s Knot Panic – I’m Learning Macramé

Welcome to my EDTEC 300 Learning Project! I have decided to challenge myself by diving into the beautiful art of macramé knots. I am a complete beginner when it comes to this new hobby I hope to master. I know that it involves knots, cords, and patterns, but how to actually put it all into action, complete BEGINNER!  Why macramé? I’ve taught myself how to knit, crochet, and both involve working with yarn and following patterns. I figured, why not try patterned knots with a string called cord? It can’t be that hard.. right? Hopefully, my string-based skills from knitting and crocheting will allow me to grasp the understanding of…
