Why Do I Want to Become a Teacher?

“While We Try To Teach Our Children All About Life, Our Children Teach Us What Life Is All About”

I want to become a teacher because it is something that I have always felt that I am meant to do. I have always loved working with children, which is why I am working towards becoming an elementary school teacher. While I was dancing here in Yorkton, I had the opportunity to teach ballet to the very young children. This was a great experience for me because I was able to make so many new connections and it helped build my confidence. Seeing the children every week gave me so much joy. Their giggles, smiles, and enthusiastic energy was so contagious and it made me smile every time. I want to continue to make a difference in children’s lives and educate them to become confident learners.

I also want to become a teacher so I can be a role model and make an impact in children’s lives. Not all children have stable homes or an adult in their lives that they can trust. I want to be the person that fills that gap when needed. I want to show them they are valued and loved. In class we talked about how we as teachers have to reach out to students if they notice something is off. This would be the opportunity I’m looking for. I want to be a positive role model for students to look up to. I want to inspire them to follow their dreams and to work hard towards their goals. Teaching children is something that I am very passionate about, and I cannot wait to start working in my own classroom.
