To me citizenship, has never been anything deeper to me other than being apart of a community. As I grow older I realize the importance of citizenship, I am learning more and more about it throughout my university studies. Citizenship is the right to live in a place and no one can’t take that right away, refuse entry to that place, or kick them out. To be a good citizen you need to respect others, so everyone can all be safe and enjoy their community. Keeping a chain of good citizenship within your community and country, is so important. In my high school I never learned much about citizenship until coming to university.

Westheimer shares about the impact, furthering your education on citizenship has on who you will be as an adult. He believes that schools play a big role in what kind of citizen you will become. The education you receive will determine the citizen you are. Not just the education you get specifically about citizenship, but the education that you get about all things. Schools will help students realize their full potential in society and in citizenship according to Westheimer.

Cappello brings this idea to a bigger spectrum. He touches on the same aspects about citizenship and the importance of education. But also the idea that treaty citizenship and treaty education as well as ethical citizenship. Both of these: treaty citizenship and ethical citizenship need to be brought into the schools at a greater capacity, Capello is right. With adding these into the curriclum it’ll ensure that students everywhere get the proper education to ensure everyone is going out of school being an educated, respectful citizen.
