It is important that future educators, current educators, students and all staff create safe and inclusive school environments for all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+. As teachers we need to have updated resources in our classrooms at hand for the students to be sure they feel accepted in their school environment. By including 2SLGBTQIA+ in the curriculum it will help students feel more comfortable with who they are, and their feelings. It also teaches other students acceptance and awareness for their peers in the 2SLGBTQIA+. It also helps make it become more of a normalized topic, the more that it is talked about and taught the faster the stigma will end. It can be easy to bring diversity in the classroom, by just treating all students as equals and being supportive of the students that aren’t considered society’s “normal”. The curriculum is outdated and needs to be changed to support all students.
