A Lacklustre Week

This week, I did not get done as much as I would have hoped. I had plans to try and make Christmas tree ornaments but… then I got super sick and had 0 energy. Needless to say I am disappointed with final projects being due so soon. Stay tuned next week for my Christmas tree ornaments! This was the video I was planning on using this week. I still wanted to finish one of my goals which was paint my game pieces for my tic tac toe game. And I did!

I wanted to paint the game pieces to fit the vibe of my board, so I decided to paint the O’s all white with little beige speckles. Painting the pieces all white was actually quite difficult because they were so tiny. I had paint all over my hands! It took a while to get an even coat but in the end I think it looked pretty good. I also had to mix the paint, and that took a while to get what I felt was as close to the speckles on my board as possible. Then I speckled them on with the same technique I used last week. This was initially also difficult because I was holding the O’s as I was speckling them,  but then I decided to place them on my paint pallet and that made it a lot easier. Who knew the smallest things were the most difficult to do?

I wanted to do something different for my moons, so I decided to do the opposite to the O’s and paint the base with the same colour as the speckles. As it was already mixed, I did not have to do this step again. Like the O’s, painting the base was actually quite difficult, but I started to get the hang of it. Then I painted the speckles with the same colour as the base of my O’s: white. This was easier this time around as I had some practice.

After painting, I sealed all of the pieces with Mod Podge, to make it shiny and more sturdy as they are pretty fragile. In the end, this probably took about an hour which I was surprised with. It was low energy which helped me complete it, and I think they turned out pretty cute! I want to give this to my mom for Christmas, because she actually was one of the people that gave me the idea to make the game. Hopefully she enjoys it!
