A Little About Me and My Tech Experience

Hello! My name is Makenna Henry and I am a third year University of Regina student, but a first year education student. I used to study psychology with the goal of becoming an occupational therapist in a school, but I switched to education when I realized I could graduate with a degree in education and still go on to study occupational therapy in the future. When I began my learning journey in Regina, all I knew is that I wanted to help kids in someway and I figured being a teacher was a really great way to be able to do that.

Because I am a first year education student, my technology experience relating to the field of education is very minimal and almost not existent. I am notoriously bad at all things computers and that is why I decided this class would be a great resource for me. I didn’t know that ePortfolios even existed. Now that I know it is such a great tool, I am very excited to get it started. Learning how to build one will not only be good for the future when I am able to show future employers my ePortfolio but it will also enhance my tech skills as a whole. My only experience in technology was an introductory computer science class in high school. Covid happened that year and my learning was cut short. Similar to why I took this class, I took computer science in high school to be able to understand how to use computers and technology more in work, school and everyday life. When it comes to blogging, along with technology, my skills are very minimal. I have never set up a blog before and worry that I won’t know what to write about in my weekly posts. So far I am loving the customization options, as I do like to make things look good and have a lot of fun doing so. Blue is one of my favourite colours so I assume it will be an ongoing theme throughout my blog. As we navigate going through this course together, I am excited to see how our skills evolve as a whole!
