Painting week!

This week, I decided to work on painting my projects because that has proved to be challenging in the past for me. I wanted to do something to my ring dish that was unique and that I didn’t get any inspo from. Painting my Jack o lantern piece was easier because I decided to paint it orange on the outside and black on the inside. That actually was harder than I expected just because when making it, I struggled to make it really smooth. Painting and modge podging over the bumps was harder than on a smooth surface for sure. I am actually ok with how it turned out. I liked it after the paint way more than before it was painted. I find that paint helps hide the imperfections.

For my ring dish, I decided to paint little plants. I’m actually really happy with how this turned out, especially because it came from my own head with no inspo needed. I even played with mixing paints to create the perfect colour. I mixed the more brown toned colour myself. I used the same orange as the pumpkin and the other plant shade to make it. It was actually quite fun and rewarding. I had a few issues with paint peeling but that’s just because I wasn’t patient enough for it to dry. I also forgot to mention that in case you recognized the shape of it from last week, it’s because it’s the same dish. All of the paint ended up coming off of it after I wrote my blog post, so I decided to have a full week dedicated to painting this week! I’m overall happy with how both items turned out!

  1. I absolutely love your little jack o lantern dish!! Your project is coming along great! I can imagine that this is a challenging art form, I’ve never tried it myself so it’s interesting to see someone starting from the beginning! can’t wait to see what you do next!
