Journey Towards Reconciliation

Journey Towards Reconciliation

In my journey towards reconciliation I have learned that as teachers it is our contribution towards reconciliation to teach the truth. Without the truth we are not able to move forwards towards reconciliation. This is why I crocheted a turtle as an aesthetic representation of my journey. In the 7 Ojibway teachings the turtle represents truth and the importance behind it. My turtle of truth that I have created also includes different coloured legs that correspond with the colors in the circle of courage. These four colors represent the four parts of the being that must be taught; the spirit, mind, body, and soul. This turtle is my representation of teaching the truth to all four parts of the person being in order to create a holistic space moving towards reconciliation.
