Journey Towards Reconciliation

Aesthetic presentation

For my Aesthetic Presentation, I have named it    “ the Rippling Effect” The significance of the title aligns with the art. The Orange font and Background represents the fact that I am acknowledged of the residential schools and its impact; and I believe that every child deserves the best, EVERY CHILD MATTERS. The water represents healing thus the rippling of the water represents the ongoing healing of the Indigenous peoples. The seven Ojibwe teachings in the ripple effect in water signify their importance in education for the reconciliation. As an educator, I want to apply these teachings in my classroom to acknowledge the children of Cultures [History] and reconciliation and they are to be taught repeatedly as a reminder for the importance of reconciliation. Everyone deserves a sense of belonging, to be loved, to be valued. As learned in this class, I believe these teachings can be used to restore lost cultures or identities. I believe in TRUTH, all truth must be told. Truth is centered due to its significance in the seven Ojibwe teachings

“Truth is to know all of these things. All of these teachings go hand in hand. For   example, to have wisdom one must demonstrate love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility and truth. You are not being honest with yourself if you use only one or two of these teachings. Leaving out even one of these teachings means that one is not embracing the teachings” (Babin et al.)
